LIB’S IMPRESSION

This work reflects on the final days of Libby (Lib) Lloyd’s mother, as recounted by Lloyd, a close friend of Phillips. In her last weeks, Lloyd’s mother found quiet joy in sitting by a window, watching birds gather at the feeder—a simple act that became a profound source of connection and comfort.

The image for Bird Seed Bed came to Phillips in a dream the night before Lib passed. The work, marked by the soft impression of a body, evokes a sense of presence and absence, of touch and memory. It speaks to nourishment—not only the physical act of feeding but the emotional sustenance found in witnessing small, meaningful moments.

Lib’s Impression becomes a tender meditation on holding on and letting go—a final imprint of a life, captured through the quiet poetry of shared observation.
